SINGLE REVIEW: Windowhead – You Will Never Be Erased

Following on from the release of last year’s fantastic EP ‘Terrestrials’, Brighton’s post-hardcore Windowhead spent the back end of 2025 touring south England in support of the record. 2026 has, however, been a distinctly quieter year for the band; whilst vocalist and guitarist Joe Arnold–Zarb has been hard at work with melodic hardcore project Death of Youth, it appears that Windowhead have used this year to regroup and reset.

At long last, that silence has finally been broken, with the release of brand new stand-alone single, ‘You Will Never Be Erased’, offered by the band as “a taste of things to come”. Focusing on the melodic shoegaze elements of their sound, this six-minute behemoth of a track evolves beautifully as it unfurls; commencing with a dreamy, fuzzy indie rock feel, Windowhead layer elements beautifully to conjure up a sound that shifts from breezy to cinematic.

Guitars twitch and writhe atop of the spirited wall of fuzz, whilst Arnold-Zarb offers robust vocal melodies that manage to balance infectiousness with emotive weight. Allusions to losing somebody to dementia are woven throughout the song, as Arnold-Zarb accepts loss but only to a point, asking that his name not be forgotten. It all builds towards a shimmering climax, as the steady rhythms give way to crashing drums of a stadium-sized scale, and screams take the place of those controlled melodies.

It makes for a spectacle that effortlessly sweeps you away, as those experimental flourishes that made the band’s past material so engaging blossom into life. Even if this is to be the only release from Windowhead this year, one cannot help but find this band keeping a firm footing on your musical radar; if ‘You Will Never Be Erased’ is a glimpse of the future, then the future is thoroughly exciting.
