SINGLE REVIEW: Twin Skeletons – You & Me

‘…a band that the alternative space will absolutely adore, with the perfect combination of ferocity and polish…’

There’s a distinct buzz that surrounds Twin Skeletons. Between attention from BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing, sizeable tours of both the support and headline variety, and impressive streaming numbers, the south England four-piece carry themselves with the aura of the next big thing. Perhaps in an attempt to make 2025 the year that this truly manifests, the band have come out swinging with a heavy-hitting anthem, ‘You & Me‘.

What Twin Skeletons offer with their sound is bold, unrelenting alternative rock that pulls subtle influence from contemporary metal; guitar riffs thunder with the sort of weight one might anticipate from Bring Me The Horizon or Sleep Token, whilst infectious melodies and danceable rhythms are delivered with a slick swagger. Moments such as the little breakdown in the back-half make the track all that more gripping, without losing any of the catchy pop flair that is threaded throughout.

The lyricism grapples with co-dependence and idolising a partner who doesn’t give anything back, with particularly vicious bars such as ‘Wanted you to give me everything/Now I hate every place you’re not in/This life is so aligned/It’s just you and me to get through’ perfectly capturing this self-destructive desperation. Phoebe Millard’s vocals perfectly exude a sense of insatiable longing, with the choruses in particular showcasing a strident and powerful vocal talent.

There is an undeniable star quality that Twin Skeletons possess. ‘You & Me‘ sounds like a release from a band that the alternative space will absolutely adore, with the perfect combination of ferocity and polish. The hype is not unjustified; don’t be surprised when you begin to see their name on everyone’s lips.
