SINGLE REVIEW: AMBERS – Draw The Line

‘…A gorgeously constructed piece of indie pop, ‘Draw The Line’ offers luscious layers of synths, infectious melodies, and danceable rhythms…’

Based out of Merseyside, AMBERS are a band already looking to make an impact. With a debut headline show this month, and a four-track EP in the pipeline, this three-piece outfit look as though they are well prepared to take over the world, and their debut single gives that very same impression.

A gorgeously constructed piece of indie pop, ‘Draw The Line’ offers luscious layers of synths, infectious melodies, and danceable rhythms from the get-go. Themes of relationship uncertainty are perfectly covered by the nostalgic, bittersweet tone of the track, with Ream Radomes’ vocals consistently carrying a beautiful yet understated emotive weight.

A surging guitar solo in the back half brings some welcomed edge to proceedings, coated in a fuzzy distortion that really leans into the retro aesthetics of the whole track. Furthermore, the production quality and mastering of this track is staggeringly good for a debut single; every element is bursting with life, playing beautifully with every other element.

For a debut single, it is hard to imagine AMBERS doing a better job. ‘Draw The Line’ not only captures their sonic identity perfectly, but establishes them as an incredibly exciting act worthy of keeping a close eye on; this sounds like a release from a band ten times their size. Remember their name.
