SINGLE REVIEW: cargazer – Meet The Neighbours

’…not only a fantastic way of starting the age of cargazer, but perhaps the most invigorating these musicians have sounded yet…’

cargazer have been steadily amassing fans on the north west circuit for quite some time now, although you may not realise it. Despite appearing to be the debut single of a wholly new band, this is in fact the first single of a reinvented Project Nevada, now looking to push their sound in a different yet equally as vibrant direction.

Acting as the sound of rebirth for this outfit, ‘Meet The Neighbours’ is a focused, engaging, and wonderfully polished slab of indie pop goodness. The vocal melodies are gorgeously performed, capturing both a vital immediate catchiness and a splendid bittersweet undertone; it’s the cinematic credit scroll of a smoking area conversation after a long, wild night out. Youthful hedonism is colliding with relentless anxiety.

This is backed up by a gorgeous instrumental that feels densely packed with glittering guitars and simple yet bombastic rhythms that truly capture the feeling that this is nothing short of an indie pop anthem. Verses vault into densely packed choruses that simply beg you to sing along to them.

Meet The Neighbours’ is not only a fantastic way of starting the age of cargazer, but perhaps the most invigorating these musicians have sounded yet. It’s a fantastic reinvention of their sound, maintaining the passion and flair that made Project Nevada worthwhile, yet pushing in a direction that feels more relevant than ever before.
