SINGLE REVIEW: King Liar – Human Error

’…the kind of track that makes you leap from your chair, pace the room a little, and then immediately press replay…’

Since dropping their double single ‘Dead Monochrome/Escapism’ last July, King Liar have been steadily chipping away at the live scene of the north, performing across Manchester, Liverpool, and Wigan with bands such as Roscoe Street and Erotic Secrets Of Pompeii. The alternative rock-prog rock fusion of the band has already marked them as being a deeply interesting outfit, worth keeping a close eye on.

It is clear listening to this track that King Liar have approached ‘Human Error‘ with the intention of pushing their own creative boundaries as far as possible, maintaining their expansive, progressive vision, and channelling it with focused, electrifying, danceable energy. Vibrant guitar melodies play out over jittering percussion, whilst the vocals harnesses the prog-rock drama that forms the core of the band’s identity, as the band explore the weight of the ego on the soul.

The syncopated dance-punk tinged bridge is pure musical fireworks, especially as it unfolds into a brilliantly explosive final passage that brings together immense guitars, glittering synths, and crashing percussion in a raging inferno of a musical experience. King Liar clearly understand just how to make a build-up pay off, bringing prog-rock scope to alternative rock accessibility, culminating in a track that

This is the sort of song that makes you completely rethink what a band of capable of. Certainly, King Liar have always been technically proficient musicians and compelling song-writers, but with ‘Human Error‘, the band have produced the kind of track that makes you leap from your chair, pace the room a little, and then immediately press replay. It is musical lightning, indicative of a band that desperately deserves your attention.

If you’re not listening, then you’re missing out.
