SINGLE REVIEW: NEONshe feat. Jey Cordz – Ride The Tide

As with any NEONshe track, it’s plenty of fun, but there’s a real intensity here that is electrifying to behold

Nothing much in life is promised, although NEONshe dropping pop bangers certainly is.

It’s been a little while since we last heard from the rainbow queen herself, having released a remix of her track ‘Sucker For Your Love’ earlier this year, this time featuring Non Stop Erotic Cabaret, before doing a little soul searching. Now, with a newfound resolution to return to her second home of Japan, NEONshe has teamed up with producer Jey Cordz to craft one of her best tracks to date.

Ride The Tide’ is an EDM influenced anthem that sees NEONshe readily accepting that life is often confusing and wild, making a choice to march to the beat of her own drum and live how she wants to. As with any NEONshe track, it’s plenty of fun, but there’s a real intensity here that is electrifying to behold; a declaration that she is here to make the most of this lifetime.

NEONshe feat. Jey Cordz – Ride The Tide

Lusciously produced, the track is a slick and densely orchestrated affair with a glossy and smooth beat that plunged into a surprisingly well executed dubstep breakdown, before snapping back into one final anthemic chorus with gorgeously layered harmonies. Cordz has some real talent has a producer, conjuring up a nostalgic early 2010’s sound, but polishing it up with modern day stylings, culminating in beats that are familiar yet fresh.

It’s a fantastic partnership between NEONshe and Cordz, each artist clearly playing to the strengths of one another. NEONshe’s vocals are softly woven into the mix, shining particularly when the chorus peaks with a catchy central hook that swells with waves of vocal harmonies. Her vocals have been sounding more confident with each release, and here, those themes of living on your own terms are truly brought to life thanks to this.

It’s altogether a fantastically vibrant affair that showcases another wonderful moment of progression and experimentation for NEONshe, working just as well against a backdrop of EDM influence as much as she does her signature bubblegum pop sound.

With a return to Japan on the horizon, it’ll be fascinating to see where NEONshe’s career goes next, and what new exciting sounds she brings to her varied musical palette. As for Cordz, there’s a definite future for his expansive and engaging sound, one that is evident of a musician who respects his roots as much as he pushes musical ideas.
